About Kayla
Hi, I’m Kayla Brumm (she/her), MSW, LSW - sex and relationship therapist, nervous system nerd, and unapologetically curious human.
I grew up in South Carolina, where sex was something you didn’t talk about - and shame was something you carried quietly. Over time (and across several state lines), I began unlearning that story. Today, as a military spouse and person in recovery, I help others do the same: untangle the rules, rewrite the narratives, and come home to themselves with more permission, softness, and soul.
I'm trained in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic Therapy - approaches that support deep, body-based healing. But I’m also drawn to the unseen, the symbolic, and the sacred. I offer therapy that holds space for the science and the soul of healing.
I work with people navigating sexual shame, purity culture, queer identity, relationship ruptures, recovery, military-connected stress, and all kinds of “too much-ness.” My practice is queer-affirming, sex-positive, kink-aware, neurodivergent-inclusive, and anti-shame at the core.
I believe therapy should feel real, not rehearsed. Sometimes we’ll laugh. Sometimes we’ll sit in silence. Sometimes we’ll explore the parts of you that are still hiding. Always, we’ll do it at your pace.
When I’m not in session, I’m probably pulling a tarot card for reflection, playing video games with my partner, practicing aerial silks, or hiking with our two dogs. Moonlight, moss, and messy conversations are my favorite things.
If you’ve ever felt like the black sheep, the wild one, the too-sensitive, too-loud, too-quiet, not-queer-enough, too-much one—this space is for you.

Fun/Human Facts:
My favorite color is orange—the weirder and warmer the shade, the better.
I’m deeply obsessed with frogs. I consider them small, chaotic therapists in their own right
I’ve been sober since July 13, 2022.
I have Tourette’s, which means sometimes my body does its own thing - and that’s part of why I care so much about neurodivergent-affirming spaces.
I’m a moon watcher and seasonal celebrator - there’s always a ritual brewing around here.
I love things that are soft and strange. Moths > butterflies, always.
My ideal day includes coffee, a playlist full of Chappell Roan, and one too many open tabs.
